Welcome to the Pauline Gillies Diary.

Pauline Gillies Design is all about heritage crafting. We knit, we crochet, we sew and we embroider. With the launch of our new website, we thought we would add the Pauline Gillies Diary to let you get to know the people behind the brand. The things we love and the inspiration behind our designs.

The diary won’t be limited to what we make for our store but we will also share any great recipes we love to cook, books we recommend and generally anything we think you might love too.

In the spirit of personalising our brand, Pauline Gillies Design is a mother and daughter duo founded by me, Fiona (that's me in the photo with Arnie, our precious Lhasa Apso) when I started my Etsy store to find an outlet for my crochet items.

There were only so many crochet gifts I could give the family. I then brought mum in to be the chief knitter and is the Pauline in Pauline Gillies Design. So – I do the crochet and the sewing and embroidery and mum does the knitting. As for Gillies, that was for my late dad. When looking for a good name for this project I thought mum and dad’s names combined made a lovely name and it stuck. It’s a lovely and fitting tribute to the 2 people who have given me so much support to pursue whatever dream I wanted to.

Growing up, I was always interested in anything craft related and is still a mystery to me why I didn’t pursue this as a line of work sooner but things happen when they’re meant to and now feels like the right time.
