I Love a List

I like to think I am quite an organised person. Yes, I sometimes forget things and I will readily admit that my short-term memory leaves a lot to be desired. That is why I am a fan of a list. I make lists for everything. Daily to do lists for work. Weekly lists on what I want to make or achieve for Pauline Gillies Design. What I want to do over a weekend or a holiday time. Whenever I travel the list goes to a whole other level with multiple lists for what to pack, what I plan to wear each day, which is very important to know what accessories will be needed and a list for the holiday itinerary.
I might sound like a deranged loon but I’m busy and lists keeps me on track. Recently I have started making a list on a Friday of what I want to complete over a weekend. Especially at this time of the year when I am trying to fit in gardening, keeping on top of household chores and focusing on makes for PGD. We have a stall booked at a farmer’s market coming up in July and it is full on just now making sure we have plenty of stock ready and available for the stall.
The bonus this weekend is that we have an extra day as it’s a bank holiday and for once, we are expecting a sun-soaked bank holiday weekend. Many people will be looking forward to getting away but I am so looking forward to getting things done at home.
Of course, when the sun’s out my attention inevitably turns to gardening, but I also need to stay focused on the fact that I’ve got half a dozen cushions in the making. I have the fronts done but they need to be assembled and stuffed.
This bank holiday weekend I want to make the most of my time and get through a lot. First of all is the garden. Plan is to get the tomato house built and dedicated strawberry planter set-up. I also need to do some repotting as the seedlings are going from strength to strength and totally thriving which I am of course delighted about. The grass will also need to be cut and some more general tidying up. Taking delivery of a new wheelbarrow today so ready to get stuck in.
Then of course there are the cushions that need to be completed so will spend time with a mini production line to get them done and dusted and added to the stock. On the business side, I am also in the middle of crocheting a new blanket so will also set time aside for that. There are some plans for expanding the range of blanket stock so want to get this one done to start on the new ones I’ve got planned (stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information on those).
On top of above, there is the general work around the house and some shopping so all in all it is shaping up to be a busy weekend.
Finally, it’s not all hard work, we do need some fun stuff as well and that’s where the kitchen comes in. I have wanted to perfect pancakes for some time and have discovered a recipe on the Baking With Granny site. They sound ideal for a slow start to a day over the weekend. I’ll share how I get on with those on our socials. I’ve used some of their recipes before and they are so good.
With all of that planned out you can see why I love a list. I am traditional with my lists, I like to put actual pen to paper and have it sitting on my desk to keep track of and tick off the tasks one by one. I feel if I went digital and put the list on my phone I would forget it easily.
What do you do to keep on track when you’ve got lots to get through? Share any tips in the comments.
